Preparing a project (BS6R)

The course "Preparing a project" is given at the start of the program which is why it is strongly recommended to have already completed the BS6K competency to ensure a sound understanding of the concepts. This course is linked to the BS6R competency – Preparing a project. Its objective is to define a product's development process, recognize the client's needs in terms of requirements, design solutions to meet those needs at an optimal cost and elaborate a project plan.

This program is geared to any professional working in an organization, a department or project, who is desirous to perfect his knowledge of project management and working toward obtaining a PMP®/CAPM® certification.

Course content

4 teaching modules on project preparation, comprised of videos, course notes, exercises and an evaluation.


 


Module 1: Define the product development process


Module 2: Translate customer needs into requirements


Module 3: Design solutions that meet requirements for the best cost


Module 4: Create a project plan


 


You may also consult a preparatory module, prior to starting your training, as well as a final evaluation training module.


As well, the student will get acquainted with the following concepts in detail:



  • Identify the development phases of the project;

  • Identify the processes, tools and techniques of project design phase;

  • Identify and characterize the project’s client’s needs;

  • Associate the needs with the search for possible solutions;

  • Design viable solutions that meet customer requirements;

  • Choose the solution that meets customers' requirements;

  • Justify the solution chosen with regard to its value;

  • Identify the parameters of the project based on the chosen solution;

  • Plan risk management;

  • Establish a general plan for the project;

  • Estimate a budget for the project;

  • Write the project charter. 


Evaluation


Throughout the modules, you will carry out formative assessment exercises and upon completion, you will be able to download the Planning management badge.
